This piece is dedicated to a dear friend who has been incredibly supportive throughout my journey of self-discovery.

I once read a profound passage: “Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune or temporary defeat. Perhaps that is why so many fail to recognize it.”

I remember three years ago when I decided to quit my job and embark on a new path. I was fortunate to find a great company offering a position as the head of marketing, managing a team of 20 people, akin to running an agency. However, stepping into a new field without prior marketing experience, lacking management skills, and having to lead more experienced individuals posed immense pressure I had never faced before.

Some team members were not convinced of my capabilities and subsequently left. I was overwhelmed with self-doubt, questioning my suitability for a management role and feeling inadequate.

Yet, I never entertained the thought of giving up. Ultimately, determination triumphed over fear. I convinced myself that I could succeed and decided to give it another try. I read books on management skills, learned to remain calm, and prepared for any eventuality. I even devised contingency plans in case more team members resigned, ensuring the continuity of our work. I assured my boss that if the entire marketing team quit, I would be the last one standing, ready to keep fighting. My boss did not criticize me for the departure of the old team; instead, he believed more in my resilience. Gradually, I rebuilt a new team and completed numerous projects in the years that followed.

Reflecting on my 10-year marketing career, that challenge stands out as one of the greatest tests the universe has given me. Had I surrendered to those initial difficulties, I would not have achieved the growth I have today. Every time I encounter difficulties or rejections, I remind myself: The universe is merely testing our courage and resolve.
