Hello!

I am Phuong Maxy, a storyteller with a passion for wine and exploration.

Welcome to the first blog in Vietnam dedicated to uncovering the untold stories behind bottles of wine, crafted especially for the younger generation.
I am not a sommelier. Here, you won’t find academic discourse or complex wine theories. Nor will you encounter dazzling, extravagant stories. Instead, I share authentic, captivating narratives about the remarkable people I’ve met on my journey through the world of wine.

Born in a rural village in Vietnam, I once knew nothing about wine—an indulgence I assumed was reserved for the wealthy. Nor had I ever traveled beyond my homeland. Yet, I always longed to explore the world.
That all changed in 2014 when, fresh out of Foreign Trade University, I embarked on my career in wine marketing. What started as a job quickly became a lifelong passion, transforming my worldview. Wine became my passport, leading me to new landscapes and extraordinary individuals—winemakers, sommeliers, writers—people who dedicate their lives to this art.
Through my storytelling, I aspire to bridge the gap between young Vietnamese enthusiasts and the rich tapestry of history, culture, and craftsmanship embedded in every bottle of wine. At the same time, I dream of seeing Vietnamese cuisine paired with fine wines on the global stage.
Currently, I work as a solopreneur, providing marketing consultancy for businesses in the F&B sector. Additionally, I serve as a board member of the Vietnam Sommelier Association (VSA), a nonprofit organization committed to nurturing and developing young sommeliers in Vietnam.
I am also honored to represent Vietnam as the host of Wine Soundtrack, a globally influential podcast that spotlights inspiring figures from the world of wine.
This journey of discovery is far from over, and I’m thrilled to have you along for the ride.

  • In 2025, I have the honor of being invited to represent Vietnam as a Digital Ambassador for Vinexpo Asia in Singapore — the largest and most influential wine and spirits event in Asia.
  • I won Third Prize in the ASI x Vinexposium Blind Tasting Challenge at Vinexpo 2025 led by Andreas Larsson – Best Sommelier of the World 2007 – and Reeze Choi – Top 3 Sommelier of the World 2023 
  • In 2024, my story “How wine became my passport to the world” was selected as an Honorable Mention in the video contest 2024 of the Wine Spectator Magazine, the world’s leading wine magazine
